Talk and Exhibition at Central Market

Tucked right in the heart of cultural Kuala Lumpur, Central Market’s long history is a testament to the city’s everlasting longing for culture, experience, and the mystical. Built in 1888 as a wet market, today it is the centre for Malaysian culture, art, and craft. Did you know that some artifacts from the famous movie Crazy Rich Asians came from this place? From traditional masks and beaded jewellery to wooden “lunchboxes” and intricately decorated furniture, the place is more than a market, it is a gallery and museum that displays Malaysia’s history through objects that all have unique stories. Social architect Nani Kaha is a partner at LabDNA a placemaking -focused urban architectural design practice. Nani builds community through fine art, popular culture, activism and social interventions.
